This article will outline the Manitoba CE courses and requirements laid out by the Insurance Council of Manitoba and provided by PNC Learning (an accredited course provider).
Manitoba CE Requirements
In Manitoba, your CE credit requirements are based on your class of license.
Fully licensed general insurance agents need to get 8 hours of CE credits each licensing term between June 1st and May 31st. If you get more than 8 hours of credits in a year, you can carry forward up to 4 credits to the next year.
Auto-only brokers will only need 4 CE credits during that same period with a maximum carry forward of 2 credits.
Brokers that are residing in areas outside of Canada that have CE requirements will be deemed to have met their Manitoba requirements alongside their local requirements. But notably, residents of the United States will need to comply with Manitoba continuing education requirements.
According to Insurance Council of Manitoba regulations, all continuing education credits must be obtained from an accredited course provider like PNC Learning. Once you’ve completed the CE course, you should enter the course number in your ICM Portal.
Acceptable Continuing Education Topics
The goal of continuing education programs is to make you a better insurance broker with new skills and keeping you up to date with industry trends and developments.
Eligible topics include: advice about insurance products/services, claims, operations, risk management, etc.
