Steps to Become an Insurance Professional in Texas

PNC Learning's Texas property and casualty course prepares you to pass the Texas P&C licensing exam.

Property & Casualty License

The General Lines P&C license is issued by the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) and allows you to sell auto insurance, homeowners insurance, commercial property coverage, and more across the state.

Texas P&C agents represent insurance companies and sell their products to clients. No employer sponsorship is required to get licensed; you just need to pass the exam, clear a background check, and apply.

What this license lets you sell:

  • Auto insurance
  • Homeowners and renters insurance
  • Commercial property and liability insurance
  • Flood insurance
  • Workers' compensation

Other Than Life (OTL)

The OTL license is for students who want to become insurance agents and represent one insurance company and offer products from one insurer.

  • With this license, you can get an insurance job with a licensed insurer, sell insurance products like auto insurance, home insurance, and more.

  • Needed to apply for the license with the FSRA

RIBO 1

Insurance brokers are more independent and represent various insurance companies, offering their clients the best choice of products and insurers.

  • As a Level 1 broker, you must work from the office (WFH has changed that) or be heavily supervised otherwise.

RIBO 2 -  Technical

*RIBO 1 is needed to take this course.
Work more independently, meet clients in their homes, offices, etc., to transact insurance business.

  • Work as an independent producer, owning and building your own book of business you can later sell (usually for 2-2.5x commission revenue).

RIBO 3 - Management

*RIBO 1 and 2 are needed to take this course

Move into a management role, or even start and run your own brokerage.

RIBO 1 & 2 Bundle

Combine RIBO 1 & 2 for a lower price

This course is for anyone wanting to get started in insurance and get their license to sell home, auto and business insurance independently in Ontario.

A RIBO 2 license allows brokers to take on a broader range of responsibilities, handling more complex technical and commercial insurance matters.

RIBO 1, 2 & 3 Bundle

Combine RIBO 1, 2 & 3 for the lowest price.

This course supplement covers: RIB Act, By-laws, Regulations, and Ontario Auto Insurance to prepare you for the RIBO Equivalency exam to convert your license (OTL or Extra Provincial) into a RIBO license.

RIBO Equivalancy

If you’re licensed in another province or you already have your OTL license, the RIBO Equivalency Course will allow you to convert your license into an equivalent RIBO license.

Ex:

  • OTL -> RIBO 1

  • Level 2 -> RIBO 2

  • Level 1 -> RIBO 1

LLQP

The LLQP is required to sell life insurance and accident and sickness insurance in Canada. The LLQP certification is applicable across all of Canada.
