CAIB 1 Exam Registration Process

Step 1 – Select Your Proctor

Selecting a proctor is the first step in registering for the CAIB 1 exam. A proctor is a person who supervises the examination and ensures that it is conducted fairly. Depending on your chosen exam delivery method, different proctor requirements apply:

  • IBABC’s Virtual Proctoring Service: If you opt for virtual proctoring, you won’t need to find a proctor separately. The proctoring service is seamlessly integrated into the exam registration process.
  • Educational Institution or Government Office: In some cases, you may choose to take the exam at an educational institution or government office. In such instances, only education professionals currently employed by accredited universities or colleges and government administrators are accepted as exam proctors.
  • Brokerage Office: If you prefer to take the exam at your brokerage office, an active Level 3 licensee at your office must proctor your exam.

Your selected proctor must complete the CAIB Exam Proctor Nomination & Policy Form and submit it for approval via email attachment (scanned PDF) at least three (3) business days before your chosen exam date. Contact details for submission can be found on the form.

Step 2 – Register for Your Online Exam

Once you’ve selected your proctor, you can proceed to register for your online CAIB 1 exam. This step is essential; you should complete it at least three (3) business days before your exam date.

You will receive an examination candidate code via email upon successful payment processing. This code is your key to accessing the exam platform and starting your examination on the scheduled date. Keep it safe!

Remember, your exam application will only be approved if both Step 1 and Step 2 are adequately fulfilled within the specified timeframe.

Deferring CAIB 1 Exam

Life can be unpredictable, and sometimes, you may need to defer your exam later. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Contact the exam location where you initially booked your exam and inform them that you want to change your exam date.
  • If your exam proctor changes, you must complete a new CAIB Exam Proctor Nomination & Policy Form and email the completed form to scoles@ibabc.org.

Please note that a $75 deferral fee applies if your exam is less than 7 days away, and you will be sent a link for payment.

Cancelling an Exam

If, for any reason, you need to cancel your exam sitting, follow these steps:

  • Contact the exam location where you booked your exam and let them know that you want to cancel your exam sitting.
