At PNC Learning, we offer a comprehensive library of insurance exam preparation courses for Canadians. In this post, we’ll provide a list and outline of our Alberta insurance broker course packages that help you get licensed and stay licensed.
If you are based in other provinces, we also have courses for every province in Canada except for Quebec.
Alberta General insurance broker level 1 course
The Alberta General Insurance Level 1 course is for folks who are new and want to become a licensed insurance broker in Alberta. This content is based on the Alberta Insurance Council (AIC) curriculum for Entry Level 1 brokers.
PNC Learning is an Approved Education Provider of the AIC. Upon completion of the course, you will receive a GLQP certification which allows you to register for the provincial licensing exam.
alberta general insurance broker level 2 course
Once you have your Level 1 license, the next step is to get your Level 2 license which allows you to operate without supervision and ultimately – advance your career. To do this, you need to take the Alberta General Insurance Level 2 course.
This course is based on the AIC curriculum for the Level 2 examination.
level 3 course
The Alberta General Insurance Level 3 course is for brokers in Alberta who want to become managing brokers responsible for supervising the other brokers in their office/brokerage. This course is especially useful if you want to own or manage your own brokerage.
Similar to the other courses, this one is based off of the curriculum created by the AIC for their Level 3 brokers exams.
continuing education (CE)
In Alberta, licensed brokers need to complete 15 CE hours every licensing period (July 1st – June 30th). If you take too many credits, you can carry forward up to 7.5 CE credits into the next year.
You need to log your hours by recording them on your AIC licensee portal.
Continuing education is a mandatory requirement of all insurance brokers/agents in Alberta and there can be consequences from not completing your required credits (ie. suspension of your license to practice).
