One of the most challenging aspects of the Harmonized Life License Qualification Program (HLLQP) exam is dealing with the questions. Not only do you need to know the concepts and material well, you need to also be accustomed to reading, understanding, and answering the questions you’ll see on the LLQP exam.
Life Insurance Exam Modules
The LLQP exam consists of 4 modules:
- Life Insurance
- Accident & Sickness Insurance
- Segregated Funds
- Ethics & Professionalism (Quebec & Common Law versions)
To become a fully fledged life insurance agent or broker, you need to pass all 4 modules. If you only want to sell health/accident & sickness insurance, you only need to pass the A&S and Ethics module.
HLLQP Exam Questions
The first 3 modules contain 50 multiple choice questions and you have 90 minutes to complete. The final Ethics & Professionalism module contains 30 questions and 60 minutes to complete.
You need a 60% to pass each module and fortunately for students, the exam is open book.
HLLQP Practice Questions
A lot of students will know the material well but still have trouble passing the exams. Doing formal research and speaking with hundreds of students, one of their biggest challenges is dealing with the questions. Understanding the questions and the multiple choice options is a BIG problem.
They purposely word the LLQP exam questions in a confusing way to prepare students for dealing with complex legal situations and reading insurance contracts. Often times they will use double negatives, hide the important information, or have 2 answer options that both appear correct. The challenge for students here is to properly understand the question and be able to pick out which answer is “most correct”. Remember, your job is to choose the “best answer” out of the 4 possible options.
While we share a lot of tips for answering multiple choice insurance questions, nothing replaces practice.
