To become a life insurance agent in the Atlantic provinces, you need to complete the LLQP program in Nova Scotia. LLQP stands for Life License Qualification Program and is the standard for life insurance agents and accident & sickness insurance agents across Canada.
To get your life insurance license, you need to complete all 4 exam modules.
LLQP Modules
The LLQP program in Nova Scotia is made up of 4 modules:
- Life Insurance
- Accident & Sickness Insurance
- Segregated Funds & Annuities
- Ethics & Professional Practice
To become a fully fledged life insurance agent in Nova Scotia, you need to complete all 4 modules of the program and pass all 4 exams. If you only want to sell accident & sickness products, then you only need to pass 2 modules: #2 & #4 above.
Once you get your LLQP license, it is valid across all Canadian provinces except for Quebec. To become LLQP certified in Quebec, you need to take a separate Ethics & Professional Practice module based on the unique legal system they have in that province.
You can find more information on the LLQP exams elsewhere on our website.
LLQP Exam Preparation in Nova Scotia
There are a lot of different ways to prepare for your LLQP exam in Nova Scotia. PNC Learning has taken the same proven formula that have worked for our general insurance students:
- Simple Language
- Pass Guarantee
- Tutor Support
And created an LLQP exam preparation course including all 4 modules. If you just need help with a few modules, you can enroll in them separately as well. Currently, the LLQP exam prep course is $149 and individual modules are available for $49 each.
Once you have passed your exams, you will need to find an MGA or employer to work with. They will “sponsor” you and help you complete the rest of your licensing paperwork. After that, you are ready to start in this new and exciting career path!
