Insurance CE Credit Requirements
The number of continuing education (CE) credits you need to get each year and deadlines for completing them depend on which province you are in.
Ontario RIBO CE Credit Requirements
Regular RIBO brokers need 8 credits between October 1st and September 30th each year.
Courses must include at least 1 hr of Ethics, 3 Technical, and up to 2 Personal Skills credits may be used. It is up to you to decide which other courses you want to take to meet the 8 hour requirement.
Principal Brokers and Deputy Principal Brokers need 10 hours. You need at least 1 hour Ethics, 5 hours Management, and Personal Skills cannot be used.
Alberta CE Requirements
You need 15 hours between July 1st and June 30th. You can carry up to 7.5 hours to the next year.
BC CE Requirements
Brokers who have been licensed for fewer than 5 of the last 7 years need 8 CE credits between June 1st and May 31st. Experienced brokers only need 8 CE credits.
If you hold a professional designation like CAIB, CIP, FCIP, CRM, etc. you only need 4 CE credits.
