CIPR stands for Canadian Insurance Participant Registry.
The Canadian Insurance Participant Registry (CIPR) is a single secure location where regulated insurance professionals can manage their personal information. Your CIPR number (CIPR #) is your unique identifier that you can use with regulators in all provinces in the country. This includes insurance professionals for general insurance and life insurance, LLQP education providers, continuing education (CE) providers, etc.
For example, PNC Learning has a CIPR # because we are a GLQP education provider with the Alberta Insurance Council (AIC). We need one in order to provide our students with certifications that allow them to register for and write the Alberta Level 1 General Insurance exam.
What can CIPR do?
Your CIPR # and log in can be used in many provinces (ie. Alberta) to log in to the regulator’s websites and manage your information such as uploading CE certificates, renewing your license, or registering for exams.
In Alberta, you must register for this number before you can get certified under the GLQP program and register to write an exam. You also need your number to appear on your CE certificates for it to be valid.
To add your number to your account so it appears on your CE certificates, just log in, navigate to your PNC Learning profile, and add it. Alternatively, you can add it when you first create an account on our website.
How Do I Get One?
As a broker, you probably don’t need one unless you’re in Alberta. But if you do, you can register for one here. Just complete the form and verification process.
