To create this weeks post, I interviewed some of our most successful students to get their insights on how they prepared for their RIBO exams. Then I took what they told me and compiled them into a list of some best-practices. Here are their 5 best RIBO exam prep tips to help you be as successful as possible on your exam.

RIBO Exam Prep Tips #1: Make Your Own Notes

One student said that “although the RIBO 1 online course comes with an amazing note package and lectures, it pays to make your own notes”.

Making your own notes is beneficial because it forces you to express the ideas in your own way. This helps you understand the concept on a deeper level and also makes it easier to remember. So if you’re struggling with understanding certain concepts or remembering things, try making your own notes. The act of writing them out by hand and the repetition also helps with memory.

Tip #2: Ask Your Course Tutor

Another student said: “If you’re stuck on a concept, try to re-read the notes or listen to the lecture again. I found that if I don’t understand something, it’s usually because I missed something important in the materials. I also like to use Google to find the answer but if all else fails, I’ll ask.”

When you’re stuck on a concept, it pays to try to figure it out yourself first. try to read up on the topic on Google or work through some of the calculations or scenarios on a piece of paper. If you struggled to figure it out, you’ll likely remember it better.

But if after all that, you’re still stuck, then reach out to your course tutor using the live chat, email support, or midterm and final check-in forms. You shouldn’t rely on your tutor too much but we’re here to help if needed.

Tip #3: Understand > Memorize

There are things you need to memorize for the exam, but you should try to understand the concepts first. This is for 2 reasons:

  1. On the RIBO 1 exam, you will be provided with a policy wordings booklet containing many of the limits and coverages. That means you shouldn’t waste time memorizing these things.
  2. The RIBO 1 exam will also be testing your application of the concepts. There will be scenario questions similar to the ones we provide in the RIBO 1 course which you won’t be able to answer without understanding each concept and how it’s applied in the real world.

Did These RIBO 1 Exam Tips Help?

The RIBO 1 exam can be challenging but with the right preparation and strategy, anyone can pass the exam. It took some effort to interview these students and they were very generous to volunteer their time. We hope these 3 tips are able to help some of you.
