ACCREDITED CONTINUING EDUCATION & ONLINE INSURANCE COURSES FOR FUNDAMENTALS OF INSURANCE, CAIB*, RIBO**, ALBERTA GIL & OTHERS

June 26, 2019

I heard back from a student who spent just 20 hours over 3 days with the course and passed his CAIB 1 exam. With such spectacular performance, I spoke with him and got some of his advice to see if there were any gems that could help other students. During our conversation, here are a few important CAIB study tips:

1. Make your own notes

When I heard this advice, I did some research and discovered that there’s a ton of research out there (that I won’t bore you with) showing that if you write things down by hand, you remember it better.

That said, you can’t just write things out verbatim. You should try to make notes out of the material – that means understanding and breaking down the materials/concepts and expressing them in your own words. If you do that, you’ll remember things better and have a better understanding of the material and its application to prepare you for the exam.

2. Attempt the quiz at the end of each chapter

Before you move on to the next chapter, make sure you use the quizzes to assess your progress. Try not to move on to the next chapter until you’re sure you have this chapter down. Otherwise problems can quickly snowball and get out of hand. You want to nip any misunderstandings at the bud!

3. Use the online help

Online help is available, so use it! If you need some help, reach out to us via live chat or email and we’ll get back to you ASAP with an answer.

I can’t overstate how important this aspect of the course is. The common thread among all of our most successful students is their willingness to reach out for help. Even if we’re not on the live chat, I’m easily accessible via email and our goal is to reply within the hour to 90% of requests.

I hope these CAIB study tips are able to help some of you guys out there. I will continue to go these types of interviews with students and bring you more insights. There is no one-size-fits-all solution but hopefully you’ll be able to get something useful out of these in aggregate.
